Block off heat with heat-less headers?
Hey all,
I ordered up a set of Fabspeed headers without heat - I had bought a set with heat but never use the heat so realize I am carting extra weight (the heater boxes) around for no reason.
One question though - how do people block off the inlet for the heating system when installing headers without heat (ie. the openings to the heating system high under the car by the rear struts)?
Is there a Porsche block-off plate (I checked PET with no luck) or some other solution that works well?
The other question is about ceramic coating - is Jet-Hot still considered the best?
Thanks.
Marc

Funny.... thats what i did. But dont use the tinfoil, go to an airconditioning place or maybe home depot and get that tinfoil airconditioning duct tape. Its pretty thick tinfoil and you can just stick it on as it is for high temp settings and wont unstick easily. You can see it in these 2 pics. 1st pic just to the left of the shock.

That's an answer. Thanks Chris. There are many flavors out there and these discussions seem like they can degenerate quickly but the Jet Hot solution is usually on the list.

If I understand your question I think you want to block the other one to keep stuff out of it.
The other question that comes up, and I recently revived in another thread, is why the block off on the fan shroud needs to have holes in it. A single hole to attach the distributor vent tube should be enough and would let all of the fan air circulate over the engine instead of allowing some to escape, essentially unutilized. Do you know?
