ABS / tire question
I put some all season tires on over the winter (Michelin PS A/S Plus, to replace a worn set of Pirelli P7 summer tires).
Now that summer's (almost) here, I've noticed that I get a lot more tire squeal & skid under hard braking (full braking power from 75-80 mph) - enough to leave black marks.
The ABS system seems to be working fine (although I've never really felt a pulse/vibration in the pedal, like I have with other vehicles) - the skidding is not that bad, definitely nothing like full lockup.
The old tires were a lot grippier on a warm road, even though they were worn. So I'm thinking that what I'm noticing is just the fact that the all-season tires have less grip? (This is on dry roads, ambient temp around 70, plenty of brake pads left, good rotors, etc). I don't track the car or push it too hard on the street, but my butt-sensor tells me these tires have less lateral traction as well. This is the first time I've ever tried a "performance" A/S tire... not sure I like them.
