Default AC Buttons which one does what?

I was wondering on the climate control unit in my car, there are two ac (snow flake buttons) top is larger than the bottom one.

Does anyone know what the distinction is between them?

Small snow flake is normal A/C function as you woiuld expect.
Large snowflake is max air to windshield/dash in recirc mode, no outside air. Intent I believe is for defrosting the windshield.
