Default Spoiler Wall - Install

I am posting this as I know there are other idiots out there just like me. I just received my replacement wall and very confidently started to install it. It did not fit. I checked the part # (993 etc) and although it matched across several vendors for my car I was stumped and a bit PO'd. I was about to post to RL asking if anyone else had this experience and send a flame email to my seller when to my surprise some photos of this repair popped up on my Rennlist search...

I was putting it in backwards.

The finished side faces the rear. It pops right in if you follow the "raise the tail 3/4 of the way to clear the bump stops" advice. The WD-40 probably helped as well.

Thats it. The next project is the seat leather dye restore. Hopefully that will go as smoothly.

Note: text for a 993, but 964 is similar. Also, read the bottom of the post, there is now a 5 minute procedure!

Did you have to remove the spoiler from the car as the link suggests? Just got mine and haven't attempted it yet.

I had to pull the spoiler. I couldn't get the top of the air dam to seat onto the spoiler. When I pulled the spoiler (4 allen bolts), I was able to seat it with a little persuasion with a rubber mallet.

Wasn't quite 5 minutes, but once I bit the bullet and removed the spoiler, it was 30 minutes all in.

That install thread should be taken down IMO. I did ,ine a couple of months ago, and this only confused me.There is no removal of the spolier needed. The old one snaps off, the new one snaps on...no rocket science required! Just have a flat head screwdriver to pry the top part off gently, and lowering it a little bit to create slack in the curtain.
