Default Rear Coilover Removal/Installation

How do I remove the top nut on the rear coilovers? I searched but found no DIY write up.

Shock assembly out of the car? (Just checking you made it to Step 1.)

Next, it's either an impact wrench, or depending on the shock an allen wrench or equivalent to hold the shock shaft + a fairly offset box end wrench to loosen the nut.

I guess I should have put Step 2 in there (or 1A), which is installing a spring compressor. Unless you've got an aftermarket spring + knowledge that it's not (or verrrry lightly) loaded against the top hat.

Sorry, should have been more exact. My question is how to remove the rear coilover from the car. I have not attempted to get a wrench back there, but it looks very tight, especially on the driver side (US car). I wonder if i need to remove the air box (I think) to get to the passenger side.

I am replacing with Bilstein and H&R. I also ordered new parts and I do not think that I need to disassemble the existing ones, but i have access to spring compressor, if needed

Get a 13mm angle socket and you should be good to go. Also a 13mm ratchet box end wrench helps out a great deal as well. Remove the blower motor to get the left rear shock tower.

Good luck
