Poll: Is your 964 headlight switch illuminated?
The headlight switch in my 91 C2 cab is not. Is yours? I've done a ton of searching and found conflicting info. For example this thread suggests that some were while others were not. I can't determine if it was a geo-market thing, a model year thing, or if the switches that are illuminated were modified....maybe a little of each?
Anyway I noticed mine wasn't lit and it got me wondering if it was supposed to be or not.

Are we talking about the foglight switch? Mine usually works, but occasionally I have to untighten and retighten the **** to get it to illuminate. (dodgey connection)
Carreragttech,Thanks for that, I was wondering how to get to the bulb.

No, this is the headlight switch to the left of the steering column. It seems as though all 964s came with a bulb in the switch assembly the same as in the foglight and rear defrost switches but some (most?) do not have the wiring to illuminate the switch. Some seem to be lit all the time, others only when the headlights are switched on, while others are never lit. I can't figure out which was the "correct" way and would I be going down a rat hole trying to figure out why mine is not lit.

Interesting topic. It seems every time this topic has come up, it causes mass confusion from the answers. I suggest we answer in a standard format so we might figure out what the deal is, like so:
(using your year, model and market, and the answer "not lit", "lit w/ headlights on", or "always lit").
1992 C2 US spec - not lit

The light switch **** part number is 964-613-055-00. You should be able to order it through your favorite supplier.
PS: Neither my cab nor coupe have illuminated switches. Both are US spec.

Not lit. '91 C4 Cab US
I pulled off the headlight **** and there is a tiny bulb. Perhaps it is on all the time and burns out relatively quickly? I can't get the bulb out and can't see if it looks spent.

In another thread it is suggested that at some point in the production run Porsche decided not to illuminate the switch as it would cause a glare in the driver's side "vent" window. I think this has some merit, as my car has a K40 radar detector installed by the PO, and the LED telling you what mode it is in is mounted in the dash right next to the headlight switch. I normally turn it off at night, because when it is on I have a bright green/amber glare in that very window. Makes sense to me...it is ANNOYING.
