Not really if you want the system to cool to its capacity. Moisture will creep in and you still need a vacuum to get the charge correct. The plugs may save the expansion valve and with only 2 weeks down it may be ok. Worth the try on the expansion valve IMHO.

The car is a '91? If so, unless it's been retrofitted, it's an R12 system. Unless Canada is wholly different, where are you going to get R12? Convert to R134? I suppose; I did it on the RSA and it works as well as can be expected. But probably the best thing to do going forward is to let an experienced A/C guy fix you up properly.

It has already been converted to 134a, I will take it to a shop that has all the tools and know how.

Agree. You missed "as long as a refrigerant supply is connected to the suction side of the compressor". Without the compressor running, it is extremely difficult to get the freon into the system.
