Another milestone crossed, my first oil change.
Oil changes at the shop I take my car to are actually pretty reasonable, but the car has been running great and there's no current need to take it in. Plus (no flames please) I really wanted to try Brad Penn oil. When I found a case selling for $37 (plus $20 shipping!!), it was a done deal.
Yes it is easy, but it still is quite a procedure when you factor in pre/post driving to check the oil level (pre- to get the oil warm and open the oil cooler line; post- to get get an accurate reading from the gauge). I got 10 quarts in, what a sight to see so many empty bottles on the ground!
A couple funny things:
- the site of the car lifted at different corners trying to get as much oil out as possible.
- trying to get the oil filter out of the engine bay... with the A/C there's precious little space. I'm sure the Porsche engineers had lots of battles about that... there's literally just mm of space to pass the filter through.
- Brad Penn oil is really green, it's a crazy green color.
- On the case box it says "Warning: may be harmful if swallowed"
P.S. - followed the RL DIY.

Congrats! That's a pretty satisfying DIY. If I had my shop do it, it would cost $140 for an hour of labor +$70 for 10 quarts + $15 oil filter = Total $225. I save approx $170 evey time and do, at least, three changes per year.
I've also had the Brad Penn delivered from www.theoilwarehouse.com and the service and pricing is hard to beat. At $4.70/qt delivered, what's not to like?
