John Boggiano 04-19-2010 05:08 AM

Stonking new route coming shortly - as investigated selflessly yesterday... :-)

John Boggiano 04-21-2010 08:56 AM

Route for Sunday May 2nd is now available.

Would everyone who is coming along please send me a quick request via PM and I'll forward it by reply?

Everyone welcome, as always. This is NOT a Pistonheads type event: as some will know there was a bit of trouble on one of those the other day. It's for people who know to to act like responsible, friendly individuals and welcome the chance to enjoy their car in great scenery, on wonderful roads and in good company. There will be stretches where you just have to go along with existing traffic enjoying the view, and others where you'll have a chance to move things along a bit if you wish. Most importantly, there's no pressure - just go at your own pace and we'll all meet for lunch if we get split up.

John Boggiano 04-22-2010 04:47 AM

Usual rendezvous - just ask if you're not sure where that is - 11.00am, followed by getting underway about 11.30.

Hi John,
Have sent you a PM!

ianellison 04-23-2010 04:01 AM

Hi John - can't make this one either! We will be on our way to Brescia to see the start of the Mille Miglia via the Italian Lakes with CCTI. Really hope to see you on the next one. Could you send the new route? I used to live in N Wales and I am interested to see your revised route. Have a good weekend. (What happened on the Pistonheads run? Put it in the PM not for publication) :bigbye:

ianellison 04-25-2010 04:56 AM

Thanks for PM. Link to new route wouldn't work! Could you try again? Thanks...

John Boggiano 04-25-2010 06:21 AM

Having computer issues today - I can't seem to send anything and can't access much either. I'm out today, so I'll try again later or tomorrow.

Sten and Sreaming - I'll attend to your PMs then.

Road Captain,

This time i have a great reason to be ask to be excused.

Friends of ours who should have flown to Las Vegas to get married on the 19th couldn't fly out due to the ash cloud and after the panic (seems you have to give 15 days notice to get married in the UK??) and the special dispensation needed to allow them to get married on Tuesday of this week their blessing and reception can now go ahead on Sunday as planned.

But to the make the day more special after their initial disappointment we are spending the morning and the build up with the bride and groom separately before the blessing which is now at the picturesque church in the village.

Sorry to drop out and miss out on the new route and seeing JB's new spyder but i think you'll understand.

** JB, have the OPC mentioned anything about a spyder losing a roof whilst driving? I heard from a trusted specialist that this happened in the last week or so and that OPC's were having to check each car as the reason why it happened wasn't clear. The guy who told me i have known for a while and am sure he wasn't passing on urban myths or rumours.

John Boggiano 05-01-2010 06:11 AM

Well it's looking set to become an urban myth, I think.

A recall was issued a few weeks ago for all the Spyders sold at that point (a total of nine), to fit a redesigned roof catch. From what I can gather, a journo somewhere had snapped shut the catch even though it was not engaged on the header rail. Not surprisingly, this turned out to be a bad idea.

Serves him right for driving it with the roof on... :-)

The catch was designed with a little indicator to show it was fastened, but this didn't take account of that scenario, so it's been redesigned. It put back production about a week, so mine's now due next week.

Have a great day tomorrow.

Any more comers for Wales tomorrow?
