Finally!!!
Well, the budget gods have smiled upon me and I have finally ordered my new seal kits and everything else I need for the car
I have Bilstein + HR reds coming, OMP seats (with sliders and brackets of course) new fuel filter, 6 pole battery cut off switch, etc......
I hope to have the engine put back together by end of the month, I will be using Wayne Dempsy's book to guide me with the timing and what not (I know, the book is pre 964 but my mechanic says the process is the same). I can't wait to get her started again and back on the road, It has been for too long.
The light is visible at the end of the tunnel
Pics are the current state of the P-car, I will try and post pics as I go....

Yeah, I have been wondering how I am going to get the pin back into the throw-out fork without loosing a finger.....
Is that how I will have to do it though? Set the fork on the bearing, mate the engine and the trans up, line up the fork and pin holes and insert the pin?

Why not remove the tranny and mate them outside the car?
Edit: Congrats on making big progress on your project. It looks fun.

You are on the right track, hold it in place with duct tape or similar that extends past bellhousing/engine flange, that way you can pull it out after the pin is inserted.

Yeah. It's just the lack of working room, and doing it by feel. Just remove the trans? I suppose. But you've got the whole front driveshaft deal. I never had to pull the engine on my '92 C4, so it's foreign to me. Thankfully, I was out of the business by the time 964's started needing clutches............. (Wrestling the whole blob of the 3.8 drivetrain back into the yellow car earlier this week was enough to have me nostalgic and wanting to get my '73 back together with a carb engine and mag transaxle.)
