Default Hawk's Friday post- weekend plans?

Well, I'm digging in on the car this weekend. Got to somehow put a nut on the inside of the panel so I can secure the cab top transmission again. One nut busted, hoping not more. I think I'll use Jaime's method- JB weld and a nut.

Took the front motor apart, and have the gear being drilled/tapped and then reassembly. Stupid gear, stupid price for new gear!

Not much else. I suppose I should charge the battery so I can work with the car and the electronics.

What about you?

I had my Porsche weekend last weekend... 3 days of awesome track time, and the chance to wash and wax the 911s. Therapy on wheels.

At this moment I am in Hawaii on vacation, but am currently on a work conference call at 4am local. I need a vacation!

At the crack of dawn on Saturday I'm headed up to Watkins Glen from NYC for the 6 Hours of The Glen race. Driving up in the 964 with a friend and have another buddy coming in his '86 944 turbo. Happy to be getting the car out of flat, boring, congested Long Island!

I discovered why my new heated 12 way seats weren't heating. I needed to install a fuse in slot #25. Glad that was a simple fix. I was worried the fault was the relays and/or switches.

I will be working on my engine rebuild project. The last step before installing it is the sort out the brake vacuum assist hose routing. I have new hoses but am not sure how to hook them up. I made when I swapped my C2 engine into my C4 and rebuilt the C4 engine, I didn't swap the intake manifolds. So when I went to prepare for installation the C4 engine into the C2, the brake vacuum line was missing. Sigh..... I've been hesitant to disassemble part of the C4 so that I can look at the routing but will do so tomorrow, if we can't figure it out using photos from here and Pelican.

Sunday, I will be delivering a new computer for my fiance's Mom. I will copy over her data from her 10 year old WinXP box and only a new fast Win7 box. She will be very happy with it. It has a 4 core CPU, 256GB SSD, 1TB spinning HD, and 24" LCD monitor. A big step up in technology from her old computer.

HMMM I am going to go over my car with air line to try to blast the prep dust that has gone all over my car like a fallout of volcanic ash! lol

I am planning on blowing as much dust off with the compressed air then using a damp chamois leather cloth to pick up the rest of the dust on the interior dash and sun visors and just about everything. Then I will have to pull the seats and give them a going over. I think my week end job is going to turn into several week end jobs as I still have to put the car back together.

don't use a chamois... waffle weave micro fiber is way better. Chamois can pick up particles too easily.

I don't think I really drive my cars as much as work on them. The entire back end is apart as I wait for special tool 9191 (ordered from Pelican but they drop ship from someone else so it take a bit longer), so I can reseal my cam chain housings. More parts coming from Sunset as well. Horn, rear spoiler curtain, so I will have a few things to do.

Hawk - You can build your own. The computer cost $625 and the monitor was $225. If you want the specs for what I purchased, let me know.

I'm hoping Santa brings me a similar monitor for Xmas. I love the size. My current monitor is a 19".

Rob,

I got shots from various angles on my C2 Tip when the engine was out. I can send you what I have if you shoot me an PM with your email.

Rob, I'd love to build one, but I just dropped $550 on camera and lens repairs, and now my other go-to lens needs to be repaired, but parts are NLA so I might have to drop $1000-2200 for a new lens. A desktop computer isn't in the plans

Completely understand. I'd love one for myself too but $$$ is tight right now, after spending big bucks on "new" used seats for my cab. Need to wait for my savings to recover.
