Mounting Recaro Speed Seats

Mounting Recaro Speed Seats
I'm trying to replace my stock seats with Recaro Speed seats. I'm having mounting problems in that the inner seatback angle adjuster hits the tunnel/console.
I've popped off the inner adusting **** and still having problems with the post that the **** mounts to still hitting the console/tunnel.
Does anyone here have a set of Recaro Speed seats in their 964?

I have a version of Recaro Expert Ls. I had a similar problem... and I took off the plastic trim, and used a grinder to remove the inner steel shaft. You only really need the outboard ones.

Its less horrible than you'd think.. and you really need to unless you like holes in your center console... ask me how i know.
I also raised the seats about 5/8 inch with some solid aluminum blocks.. FWIW.

I had the same problem when I installed a set of Recaro Mitsubishi Evo seats (about the same as the speeds) into my car. The bolt pattern on the sliders matched the Porsche seat pattern but I could not get the seat to slide back far enough to install the front bolts because the seat ran into the center console.
I bought a seat bracket set from Wedge engineering that was supposed to raise the seat up enough to allow it to slide freely but they didn't tell me that I needed their special sliders to go with their brackets. I ended up fabricating an adapter to bolt my sliders to the Wedge brackets and the seats went in fine. They sit about an inch off the mounting platform with my new bracket configuration. I am 6' tall and my hair touches the headliner so I think I'm gonna start looking for a set of used pole positions so I don't have to worry about my helmet getting in the way during auto-x and track days.
