Long time lurker, occasional poster , finally 964 owner!
The wife is sick of me grinning like a drooling idiot so I need to share this moment.
If it seems like the following is a load of pretentious rambling crap it’s because it is.
Hopefully, at least some of you will understand.
Two years ago with my 40th birthday fast approaching I decided, to fulfill a childhood dream to own a 911. Truth be told this was a car that I’d wanted to have by the time I was 30. While I came close a couple of times life got in the way, marriage, business and then emigration to the US all conspired to delay me scratching this long time itch.
So in 2008 with my automotive clock loudly ticking away I began reading online anything I could find related to the marque. At this stage I wasn’t all that savvy about the 911 variants other than knowing that the iconic shape seemed to me to lose something after the 964. My heart said 1973 2.7RS but my wallet said 964. Game on.
Online browsing led me to the Rennlist and Pelican boards and a wealth of knowledge that abounds made me realize just how little I actually knew about the cars in terms of model variants and their individual traits – both good and bad. What I have learned is that the Rennlist board is the place that has made this particular novice a little bit more confident before jumping in with both feet.
So after two years, almost to the day and a quick flirtation with a 1968 Mini and much chanting of the “PPI” mantra, I GOT ONE!
Found local to me, a huge bonus as I don’t have much time to travel out of state.
1991 C2, with 2 previous owners with OCD, it was a garage queen.
Had a new flywheel and clutch at 44K miles to resolve DMF issue, new Bilstein HD’s at 51K miles. No drips for now.
Driving it away Saturday morning I understood why the previous owner looked so pissed as he handed the keys over – I love this car on so many levels.
A couple of rubbish pix before the cold killed my camera battery. But’s it’s in my garage dammit!

The white seat piping is really cool. I love the minute variation in our cars... so many different markets, laws, and options. Very cool. How does the steering wheel look under that cover?

Congratulations and welcome aboard! What are your plans for the car? Keep it stock, lots of mods? And what do you intend to do with the car? Street driving, autocrossing, DE or con cours?
