Default Audi RS2 Tear drop Mirrors - will they fit 911

Hi I have a 1977 911 want to replace old square style mirrors with tear drop mirrors, I have been offered Audi RS2 teardrop mirrors for a good price, they are supposedly the same as the 964/993 teardrops. Does anyone know if they will fit the 911 straight off or will I need separate brackets for them to fit 911 body.

Unless the Audi has the same door shape and angle (unlikely) as the 911, you will need new bases.

Just as a reference 968 cars have tear drop mirrors as well, but the bases are different and they won't work on a 911. Well, they will bolt on, but the car will look like a spaniel.

I think you can buy them and try if they will fit. If not you can buy new bases (not expensive).

I take it the "spaniel look" for 964s is not sought after?

I'm sure it is quite appreciated by those who like to see their rear wheels from the mirrors, but not much else.
