Default Help to remove the dash

Hi Guys.

I've got two small cracks in my dash, and i'm so perfectionist, but my question is that if i need to remove the windshield, cause i'm going to paint the car, so if i have to remove it, i will do it now.

Regards!!

You do not need to remove the windscreen to get the dash out. It only requires removal of a few screws and a couple of bolts. If you use the searc it will come up with several guides as to how it is removed depending on if your car is LHD or RHD.

I can now have my dash out in less than 15 minutes and back in in about 20 min so it's neither a difficult nor time consuming task.

Removing the upper is indeed easy:

-Start with seperate piece close to windscreen: remove 5 phillips screws
-Then on the side remove plastic caps, remove two phillips screws deep in the middle hole
-Remove clock from dash (carefull: use big flat screwdriver), the between the hole of the clock and the middle vent, there is a bolt (M10).
-Now carefully remove upper dash

The DIY is as easy as koebel has described!! The five screws near the windscreen retain the demister grille. That comes off once the 5 screws are released. The 2 screws under the trim plates at either end are easy and the retaining nut between the clock and the air vent is the most difficult. Once all these are released the dash top just pulls off. The centre air vent will likely come away with the dash top.

Regards

Now my friend is restoring the sport seats, to leave them perfectly, and my dashboard only have a micro crack, but i want it perfect.

I saw a before after of a 2002ti dash and was incredible, magic, it's unbelivable.

I had mine repaired (it had 2 1" cracks on the drivers side) looked good for 4 or 5 weeks.
But now they have comeback, not as visible, but still there.

I think that ill have it covered in leather to mask the damage.

A number of years ago I refinished a dash on my 944 with leather. After applying glue backing I put the entire dash into a rubberized bag and used a vaccuum to pull out the air.

I wonder if anyone else with more experience knows how to do it better...
