Default Chain Tensioner Gasket Orientation

I recently installed new chain tensioner gaskets (part number 964-105-177-03) and torqued the nuts to the factory specs while replacing the clutch. Last night, I got the motor and transmission back in the car and fired it up. Once the oil began to warm up, I had bad leaks at both of the chain tensioner gaskets. I usually pay very close attention when removing parts so they are reinstalled correctly, but I think I might have botched these.

I installed them with the bolts going through the 2 larger holes with gaskets around them instead of the 2 smaller holes without gaskets. In looking at the picture, I think I should have installed them with the bolts going through the smaller holes.

Can anyone confirm this?

The oil was drained when I installed them originally. When I reinstall them, will I need to drain the oil again before removing the chain tensioner covers and gaskets or can I swap them without draining? I don’t mind minor spillage but I am not sure how much to expect.

Thanks for any input,

Kyle

Not a big deal... Just get new gaskets and reinstall. You won't loose much oil at all.

Yes- the smaller "non rubber O-ringed" holes get the bolts.
