Default Next upgrade - engine heat insulation

So I've now done the 964 Turbo brake upgrade (and yes, will post pics once I get round to it), looking to reduce the heat coming into the cabin from the engine.

Any ideas? How does the stock car insulate heat, and can I simply upgrade the material to a more effective modern version? It was also really strange to put on a hot seatbelt the first time.

sounds like you could have a leak in the heater tubes if your front seat belts are getting hot.

Is a hot seat belt so uncommon? My impression was that the oil tank was situated there, and after use, it retains the hot engine oil, transferring heat into the cabin and specifically to the seat belt close to it.

Not uncommon to me. Have experienced it numerous times.

Take a look at THIS thread for a possible explanation.

I have an American car but my wife always likes the warm seatbelt on the passenger side. I do think that it is because of the oil resevoir on that side. My side is never warm.

Thanks Jason. This raises a couple of questions. So there's a vent that could potentially allow hot air in. I guess this is relevant for temperate countries. So in Singapore which is on the equator, can I simply disable this hot air capability?

Also, all the rear seats are warm after a run in a car and leaving it for awhile with the engine off. Seems unlikely that a small vent at the base of the seat belt can generate so much heat. More likely the firewall is allowing heat through via conduction?

Thx. Singapore is RHD, like the UK, so I get the benefit of the hot seat belt

Spoke to my mechanic, and he said that you can remove the heat exchanger in the engine compartment as the RS models don't have them. Anyone done that yet?
