Singer Design - 911 Hot Rod

Please forgive, not 964 content...

I've never heard of these guys but this car looks very exciting... it's a unique mix of Porsche inspired styling, but many, many subtle differences. A hot rod... Hats off to the creators, it definitely works for me!

From Singer's media file:
The Singer 911 is no mere imitation, clone or retro-hot rod, but a re-interpretation and rebirth of the
early performance-focused 911’s. The new vehicle is the result of a fusion between the purity of the original
911 and modern materials, design, and updated technologies, and aftermarket experience into a unique sports car
that recaptures the essence of the early 911’s golden age. The Singer 911 capitalizes on the 40 years of solutions
and enhancements that have resulted from the racing aftermarket’s embracing the original 911. Borrowing the
best elements from the air/oil cooled 911’s long production span such as the “chic” of the long hood pre-’74 race
specials, and the engineering durability of the later cars from the 80’s and 90’s, Singer Vehicle Design capitalizes
on the vast know how and evolutionary advances the original 911 has enjoyed. The experience offered by the
new Singer 911 is a passionate celebration of the history making, iconic 911, and creates an enhanced sportscar
that honors the original 911’s soul.

Now some pictures...

I saw the car in Monterey and its extremely well done. I appreciate a fine build and this one is a 10. Only aesthetic flaw is the wheel/tire combo not proportional to a longhood....but it must make finding tires easy.

the engine is a thing of beauty....wish you had a shot of that.

That is my pal Rob Dickinsons car. He did an early car that is equally beautiful. I have yet to see this car in the flesh, but understand that the detailing is superb.

Lovin' it. The oversize wheels look not too bad either. Like those headlights and that muffler/centre exhaust.

Sorry I can't help myself... a couple more.

Is this a modified 964 lid, with a ducktail-like extention?

junkart 09-04-2009 01:48 PM

Can you buy that anywhere?

christallon 09-04-2009 02:19 PM

I believe the car is a development platform. Many of these little beauties will likely become available at some point. I too want one of the clocks. Looks amazing!

It looks like it could be a pop up, making it infinitely cooler.

Interesting take.

(Too bad he didn't start w/ an SC tub. tinwormitis)

ChaseN 09-05-2009 09:28 AM

Love it. Even the wheel/tire package works for me, even if it wouldn't normally on a longhood.

I'd love to see more exploration of the edges of the envelope with 964's though. Just wish I had the money to do it :(
