Looks like both light bars that illuminate my switches have gone out.
Is there a "cheap" fix or is my only choice to buy them from the stealer?
Also wondering if my switches are supposed to self illuminate?
Thanks!

Yep, there are lights above the switches that should come on with your dash lights. Unfortunately there is a circuit board that the lights are soldered to. You may have to buy a new board or live with no lights.

Must be a global outage....I just had the carpet replaced and they disturbed the consol enough to knock a bulb out. I had assumed it was an easy fix....seems not.

You could solder some LEDS on the board. There was a post on here about just that a while back but, I can't seem to find it now. It is something on my 'to do' list.

I just did this DIY last week. Got some blue-ish LED's and some resistors. Desoldered the old globes and soldered in the LED's and the resistors. 30 minutes later - all done. Looks nice - much brighter than stock.

John's UK site has a good how to. I used red LED's with built in 12V resistors. Was really an easy fix. I bought some white ones which I found later to switch with the red ones as they weren't quite bright enough for me.

Then go to Technical link then electrical link.
Hope that helps. By the way, I had not soldered in 15 years and it was still an easy fix.
