I typically fill up around 1/2 tank in city driving and 1/4 tank on longer trips in all my cars.

I get 27 mpg from mixed driving, 70% motorway and 30% town, admittedly slowish driving though. Was Amazed, particularly as my 1983 Merc 380SL barely hits 20mpg on motorway runs at 60mph.

Arround town I get about 18 mpg and I keep my foot out of it.
On longer stretches at 70 mph I can get as good as 25 mph.
That's up her in Washington state, might do better on the flatter open road ways.

Wow. Our p-cars are actually quite efficient even by today's standards. I'll get around 22-23mpg going 70-80mph with some spirited driving thrown in (mostly highway).

I will comfortably drive 30 miles on reserve at any reasonable speed. Yet I have only run to that point twice in my 964. I am headed to Seattle and back, from Albuquerque this weekend and I will document MPG and report. I have some 35,000 miles covering this journey in the past 4 years and have averaged 29+ mpg at 64 mpg average for 480 mile stints. Then fill him up with Shell Primo. I stay awake listening to the engine, I have no radio nor rear deck insulation. I've yet to hear a song that sounds better than the 964 hone. If I had a CD player I would listen to the Audio from McQueens' Le Mans.
I'll be updating when I remember to update.
I realize this is a very old post, but it took a while to conceive a reply.

Lots of varying numbers here. We need to remember that those in the US are using US gallons. 1 US gallon = 3.78L, 1 Imperial gallon = 4.54L.
Another way to look at it, 20 MPG US = 24 MPG IMP. 25 MPG US = 30 MPG IMP.

I just managed 440miles on a tank, and ran for 25 miles with the fuel light on. I filled the tank to the top and it took 70litres, so I guess I was cutting it pretty darn fine!!!!
