Default Electric Seat

Hi all.

I had my seats re conditioned and dyed yesterday. They look great (linen leather) however now back in the car the front electric seat adjuster on the drivers seat has stopped working. The rear one works fine as does both on the passenger seat. I’ve checked the plug and that seems ok. Does anybody have any other suggestions or ideas?

Much appreciated,
James

Ps: Will try and get some before / after pics up soon. Cheers.

If you can hear the motor working, but the seat doesn't move it could be that the flexible shaft that runs from the motor to the worn gear (that raises and lowers the seat) has popped out at one of the ends. Happened to me. I bet the seats look great!

I just saw an ad for these seat covers; covers just the side bolsters:

Here's what the flexible shaft looks like:

I'm not certain, but I think there may be TWO plugs for the driver's seat, James.

Ok thanks. No motor noise so will look for that 2nd plug. These seats are pigs to remove and put back in!

Cheers

The switches can be disasseembled and the little ball bearing contacts can be cleaned up and relubed with some white lithium grease. Be carfull though they're spring loaded.

Cheers Bill.

Not having much joy in finding a 2nd plug and don't really want to take the seat out. Mine are not fully powered seats, anyone able to confirm if there should be a 2nd plug?

Many thanks

I'm actually going off something a friend said to me - he removed and replaced his seats for reconnolising the other day and was surprsied to see that there were two plugs on the driver side, but just one on the pass.

I can PM you his phone number if you'd like to ask him about it directly.

Ah thanks John. I understand now. Yes his number would be appreciated, but I'll take another look before I trouble him.

All the best,
James
