Default PSS10, JIC Cross or KW V3 (pix of new car included!)

I know this has been discussed before, but which is the best alternative and why?
I will be using the car mostly as a street car and I have found similar pricing for each kit. I already had a Bilstein/HR setup in my old car and want to try something different this time on the new car.
I know you like the pix so here is a shot of my new car I just picked up this month in Seattle from a fellow Rennlister. '92 C2, 56K miles.

kw3...Kw3 and JIC are kind of in the same category and the PSS system is really a street only ap in my opinion. You also left out H&R which makes some cool stuff if you don't want to deal w/adjusting.

Great looking car and great colour choice

I think my KW V3 set up is fantastic. Set on nearly full soft it is probably firmer than standard suspension (I previously had Boge shocks and lowering springs) but very compliant on the road. Adjusting it so that it's firm makes it very sharp on the track. However, adjustment is quite fiddly especially at the rear because of the need to remove the air box and blower to get to the top of the shocks. But if you're only using it on the street then I guess you can just have it set up the way you like at the initial install and not worry about adjusting it.

Dang! -- that's the car I was looking for when I stumbled across Red.

Fate's weird. (...Red spent a decade in the NW [Seattle] prior to returning back 'home' to its sales-birthplace in S. Calif.)

Nice man!!! The Cup I's are very nice!!!! Sharp car.

I have been going around about suspension too. I believe the right set-up for long term ownership is KW V3. Absolutely. The initial cost is high, but from what I have read and understand, this set-up is the bomb and can be adjusted for various applications.

Congrats!!!!

i have JIC and like it so far. Not sure on the customer service. Might want to do a little research on that.

JIC has linear springs with helper springs. Good for track coz you can choose different rates to get the perfect setup. The PSS9/10 uses progressive springs just like OEM which i think is better for street and occasional track days.

PSS9/10 does not come with upper pillow ball mount w/ adjustable camber. JIC does.

JIC has a separate bracket for adjustable ride height. It is kinda nice if you like to have Cup height (slambooty). You adjust the height from that lower bracket instead of lowering spring perch like the PSSx. By doing this you're not decreasing the strut travel when you have the car dumped to the ground.

PSSx is more of a street usage just like what LA964RS said.

not familiar on KW.

my $0.02. My apology if any of the info above is wrong.

Not that you are looking for this but my 964 turbo with custom JIC coilovers hooks really hard with my 700rwhp tune on the street The quality is top notch in my opinion.

As posted above you didn't mention H&R...but, if you don't need adjustability I highly recommend their coilovers. My car sees about 5-6 track days a year and as many autocross events, along with about 8k miles of street driving. I can't honestly say that I ever really missed not being able to adjust them, and it provides a great compromise between compliance & track fun. The only thing I'm looking at doing is grabbing some TRG adjustable sway bars as my driving level improves, if nothing else just to be able to do some gross suspension adjustment for track/AX.

Thanks guys. I am diggin' the white.
I'm surprised at the amount of JIC and KW fans out there. Wasn't there a thread a while back stating that it was tricky or not possible to get the KWs low enough for RS ride height?
Also what spring rates would you go for in a JIC setup for mostly street?

BTW, I found a NIB JIC Cross for 89-90 C2 for $1600 up here in the NW if anyone is interested. No affiliation, just passing on information

CROSS Coil Over - 964 911 Carrera 2/4 - 1989/1990 - spring rate front
7K-180
- rear 9K-180 - helper front - 50 helper rear - 80

JIC can make for a reasonable street setup, you can run very high spring rates on the street just by dialing the shocks down. RS spec rubber bushes help a lot too

mostly street might run 7/10(392#/560#), more track oriented might right 8 or 9(448# or 504#))/11 or 12(620# or 674#) depending on the basic tune you want the car to have wrt over/under steer

full race as used on the Cups was 600#/800# and even that is doable as long as shocks can be eased.

For street use I don't like the JIC front camber plate monoball, as it allows water & dirt to enter the trunk. I replaced mine w/ Modes, you can also tape it up as a cheaper alternative.

I've veen looking for a couple of days now in different forums. I'm trying to find out if the PSS10 springs can be replaced with a similar spring rate that of the JIC?? and what kind of camber plates mates with the PSS10.

any help is greatly appreciated.

Well, that's not true. PSS10s use linear springs, with helper. They are very easy to adjust and work veeeery well! KWs look better, are stainless steel, have separate adjustments but, Bilstein, IMHO, have far more experience on Porsche and also have a pretty good tester....
