What's the outside temp? Sounds high as I can get in the high 40'sF at 80F outside. With R134. Just recharged mine for the Summer just putting a can in with no vacuum before. The tech did it a few years ago and got it even cooler.

I got about 4c the other day. Outside was about 12c. It's a bit vague I know - I was playing about with my new infra-red thermometer for fun, and aimed it at the vents just out of interest rather than any scientific testing. Mine's got r134a and it hasn't been topped up in about 10 months.

Seems a little warm, but it really depends on the inside temp, inside humidity, outside temp, and engine speed. If it cools the cabin, you are fine.

Ours is a '91 so it was designed to use R12. It has been replaced with 134. It is my understanding the center vent temp should run around 38 to 40 on a 80plus degree day even with the R134.
Having said that, 45 is about the best I've seen on a hot, humid 90 degree day!

Just checked mine. Center vent, full speed with recirculate on and registered a 49.2F at idle with ambient air temp at 83.1F and low humidity. Im running R12.
Sounds like it may be running a little warmer than it should but you need to test on a warmer day. The procedure/chart below is from the 964 Service Manual:
