Default 993 RS Hard-shell seats

Hi

I think I might shortly be acquiring a pair of hard-shell 993 RS seats. Does anyone have any idea of a ball-park sort of figure that these might be worth, especially in the UK, assuming they are in excellent condition? It will help me to decide how much I'm willing to pay for the car that they are currently within.

Thanks.

John,

Gert sold a set of those in excellent condition a few months ago. I think his asking price was around 3000euro. I'll take a wild guess but I think in the UK you are looking at 2,5K£ if they are in good condition. Can they be fitted to a LHD 964/993?

Keep me updated on the door panels

Best

John,
If we are talking genuine factory 993 RS fixed-back bucket seats (a la Recaro Pole Position), the same as the 964 RS seats, then the base price has historically been around £1,500, though I have not seen a set for sale for some time - they don't come up very often. That said, there is a pair for sale on here at the minute by "Gary C2", which might give you a guide. I would be tempted to look for c. £2k if in A1 condition.
However, if they are the hard back "Sports" seats from a 993 RS "comfort" (with reclining backs), I believe these are worth somewhat less ........

Not neccesarilly(?) a bad thing (price wise). There are several threads on the 993 board and pricing seem to range from $2.5K to $4K. Here is an auction in the UK ending tomorrow:

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...m=260374117869

no affil, just a good comparison. Yours (to be) look way nicer. Better color and condition to boot.

Keep in mind though that these are NOT 993 RS hardback comfort seats but "normal" hardback sport seats. The former are manual seats (no power) and have grey inserts. Yours (to be) are 8-way powered. I would still ask £2.5K and expect at least £2K for them. Very nice seats..

John,
That's a shame, but I suppose it just means that you have less "fat" to factor in to your purchase price. They are still desirable seats as they are considerably lighter than the standard seats and the Sports with electric adjustment. That said, the market for them is probably a bit limited, as most people wanting a lightweight seat would tend to want one with belt holes etc for track use.
I can't really offer much wisdom price-wise I'm afraid ...............

Jamie,

As per my post above, these are the regular powered hard back sport seats. About the heaviest seat you can find I'm afraid, heavier than the stock seats. But very desirable none the less.

JB...I always thought you were more of a 'semi-stock' sort of guy? I'd vote for 'stock recovered' or 964 Turbo seats (or something at least around in 1990-1993). :P

The old girl was always such a gleaming example...

EDIT: think I read into this the wrong way (or just didn't read properly in the first place ). Now I re-read I see these are 'already' installed as opposed to you looking to purchase and install. Incidentally...will you be keeping them?

Viggo,
I defer to your knowledge on 993 matters !!! Though I must say I'm amazed they're worth that much.

Yeah me too, particularily as they are so heavy. But they are very comfortable and the big bolsters tuck you in nicely. They also look very cool with the colored seatbacks.

If you pull the trigger John, you will have no problems getting rid of the seats, that's for sure. Again, very desirable in black and the red hardbacks doesn't hurt either. It's another bonus if they have the Porsche crest on the headrest. Some do and some don't. The ones with the crests are even more valuable.
