Default Where are all the American Roadsters?

You rarely hear of them, and almost never see them on the for-sale block....

THere are 3 on eBay right now. The issue with them is the owners think they're worth their weight in gold

Here is my AR with 993 RS Speedlines and a few enhancements. I drove maybe 1000 miles in the past 5 years and averaged less than 1500 miles per year before that from '92. Only a couple hundred or so were made, so the chance of seeing one on the street is very low. I would never consider selling the AR because it has great sentimental value for my wife.

Many interesting cars have come and gone since I started driving, but I love the shape of America Roadster and Ford GT the most. Maybe the Viper GTS also...

AR (my abbreviation and not Porsche's) = America Roadster. It is basically a 964 C2 Cabriolet with 3.3 Turbo widebody flares, suspension and brakes. Porsche seems to have only made ~250 for the USA market. I am sure there may be more info on the web or others would chime in with the specifics. I just own and drive the cars when I can

Par... gorgeous car. I love the WB look in a cab, and these are the only ones available in the 964 vintage.

I think the same car is for sale on ebay now.

The badging and rear seats do not seem correct though...

Love these cars... mine is a replica of an AR... got to love those wide hips!

parsecnc4, your car is the real deal. And those wheels are just the perfect ones for these cars. A true beauty you have there. I am with you with the Ford GT as well, there you have a design you will not see in awhile... classic from day 1.

Pretty much. Only 256 wide bodied C4s were imported to the US in 1994 compared to the 250 America Roadsters in 1992. There are far more of both outside the US though, with 911 C4 Jubilee cars produced in 1993 and many more wide bodied cabriolets.

Regards

Thanks. I've followed your various posts and have admired your red WB cab also. I only wish I have as much mechanical skills as you do. The other "classics" I have been hunting for are '94 3.6T, '89 Speedster, or possibly a '94 C4WB, all in black of course, to pair up with the AR.
