Yes. I find I keep up with most stock 930's and 965's on the track but they always have a power advantage if caught in traffic and have to get back on the power.

I will also add that my engine has 53k miles and at 46k I had leak down and compression test done showing 2 cylinders with 2% and the rest with 1% and 170-175 compression so a relatively strong engine to start.

Low 964,

You may have already adressed this, but just in case...

Probably the cheapest way to change/increase the performance of your car is to shed weight. At a certain point, things can certainly get expensive with this avenue as well (e.g. carbon fibre body panels, etc.), but I managed to pull about 200lbs out of mine before I got that far.

Believe me, it makes a HUGE difference!

Please let us know what you decide to do.

Regards,

Dave

I need to go on the driver improvement program. I can shed a lot of weight there too. Don't forget the 964 weighs about 150-200 pounds than a stock 964 too.

Did you just remove carpet and things or replace factory items with light weight components?

Owning a 9m MoTeC 964 RS, I suspect you can guess what my suggestion would be ..............

That said, I have come across an apparently cheaper way to get to 320bhp. Another RS owner I know took his otherwise standard car to Wayne Schofield at Chipwizards, who put a 993 intake system on to his car and remapped it to 320bhp for about a third of the price of MoTeC.

I don't want to get into an argument about the limitations of the 964 injectors as I'm not sure whether these were replaced or not, but in terms of "bang for buck", the Chipwizards solution seemed to offer good value, and seemingly had no detrimental effect on driveability.

Either way it might be worth a call to Wayne to get his opinion.

You pays your money etc etc ...........

Thats a huge gain for just intake change and remap. I'm skeptical.

Any one know how much the 9M Motec +1 kit roughly costs ?

Has any looked at piggyback type management systems as an alternative to the Motec.

Cheers.

I thought it seemed unlikely too, but I don't know the full spec of the work carried out so can't really comment any further, but the owner suggested to me that it was merely the intake and then remap. Wayne Schofield has a very good reputation in this field, so I have no reason to doubt the figure quoted. I was very surprised given the effort and expense it has taken to get my car to 335bhp !!!!

It looks as if Russ will give us some answers in a couple of weeks ........

Spoke to 9m £4k for motec up to £10kish for +1, it all depends on the dyno you use but if 9m dyno at 250 standard and then get 320 with motec thats great, just compare your start and finish bhp, it would be good to know the guy with 320 chip wizards before and after bhp.

cobalt it was the next bit I didnt understand!!!

It was an RS with de-cat and cup pipe, so I imagine it was probably 275 or 280 "before".
