Air Box - I'm going to cut!
Right guys,
I'm going to clean my K&N filter this weekend, and whilst I'm at it, I'm going to drill some holes into the air box cover.
I've read a lot of the posts on here on the pros and cons of doing it.
The one reason I am doing it is for noise and noise alone.
The question I have is, what's the best location to drill?
I have seen round holes, square holes and all in different positions. I have read drilling to the right gives better noise etc etc etc.
I have one shot at this and want to get it right!
Cheers,
Kieran.

I drilled holes through just about all of the squares on the front of the cover. Other people cut all around the outside to completely open it up. If you want to drill it rather than cut why not drill a few holes and test it. You can always drill more holes, you can't repair them once done.

Airbox holes
I've read that it is recommended to drill the holes towards the front of the cover to avoid water from the rain and washing from dripping into the exposed air filter. I

*UPDATE*
Took the air box off yesterday and did the duct tape test - LOVED IT!!!!!!!!
The only problem was that I have found at the at my last service the garage replaced my K&N with a paper filter
So I have delayed the actual cutting until I get that resolved. Legally, any idea where I stand if I demand they replace it? Seeing as I have spent about £1400 with them in the last 6 months you would like to think they will sort me out.
Also... I noticed 2 of the 3 clippy things that hold the air box in place are missing - anybody a part number so I can replace them?
Thanks all.

Remove the airbox cover and hold the filter in place with duct tape around the edges. Then go for a drive. That way you can hear the difference opening the airbox will make without having to destroy your airbox cover.
