C4 guy's HELP
Does the light on the console for the 4 WD light up?
If so, I need to change the bulb! thanks Dwane |
When I turn on my key, before starting the car, I have the (!), and the right hand two lights below it on (the green pdas light was added by me), and I have five of the lower lights on (lower left is off). This is on the oil temp/press gauge.

AFAIK, the green PDAS light does not light up as a stock item. It requires some sort of mod...?
|
Just to clarify... I am talking about console and not the dash.
thanks tbennett |
Ah, the little yellow light in front of the shifter? That does light up. Though, it's a bit difficult to see it go. I do see mine at night hitting cross cuts in the road.
As for the green light, it is all wired and ready to go, but there was no bulb in it when it shipped from the factory. I simply purchased a bulb (something like $2), pulled the gauge, and installed the bulb. Some folks don't like the green light, but I find that it's interesting to be able to see when the system engages. I've had it light up on dry pavement blasting through the turns. I've also seen it in a straight line in low gears. |
The small yellow light above the knob on the console should light up briefly as you turn the key to start the car. The diff locks go through a test, that you should be able to hear them click. Then, the light should come on if you turn the knob to manually activate the PDAS, and blink while activated. And finally, the light will come on any time the PDAS is being activated while driving - like when powering around that really cool s-curve on Bunker Hill Rd. on the way home from work.:D Make a game of it, to see how many times you can activate it during your commute.

Yes, I like to play that little console light game too... I can just see it out of the corner of my eye as I take that uphill right-hander on the way home. Its when I feel the front inside wheel begin to hook up and pull. But now with my suspension drop, I don't see it nearly as often. I will have to try harder.

While driving, I will occasionally notice the light come on. If you want to test the light, you can manually engage the system by twisting the knob below. It will turn on the light. The system will disengage around 25mph.

Let me try this again...I am talking about the little diagrams on the console in front of the shifter. The one for the spoiler lights up green when I turn on the lights. The one that looks like a chassis doesn't.
:biggulp: thanks Dwane |
Do you mean, these lights? The lights above the switches?
http://www.porsche964.co.uk/technica...es/jh/fig2.jpg If yes, there is a good repair instructions John's 964 web. See http://www.porsche964.co.uk/technical/conslights.htm |
No, The one that looks like a chassis, next to the spoiler diagram.(above the right hand knob). Does it light up green like the spoiler diagram, When you turn on the lights?
Someone please HELP OUT! Dwane |
Dwane - Is this the one?
http://forums.rennlist.com/upload/96...ole_lights.jpg If yes, it is back lit, when I turn on my headlights. |

I didn't find the listed LED's in my RS's LED drawer. Was looking for the clear, 12V LEDs for the upper three lights. Only found Red, 12V LEDs. Was impatient, decided not to wait for a special order (of the clear types) to come in, so bought and tried the Reds. Worked fine. Love them. Will never burn out. |
