Default Pooling Water....

I found some standing water while on my search for damaged wire insulation. Take a look on the driver side (LHD) of the fuel tank and look back in there. I had 2-3 Oz of water and some black crud...looks like it is a recurring situation. I called a fellow Rennlister and he also had water. Anyone else experience this?

That happens to me too when I wash the car. I think the trunk seal is not doing its job. Haven't bothered to look into it further, but that's my first guess.

May also be worth checking to see if all the drain tubes are in place ( 5 in total...2 hidden? ). Not sure how much water will actually get in if they are missing, but I guess some must if driving in the rain.

I used to get this on my last 964 until I changed the seal. Although the rubber itself wasn't in bad condition, it was not glued firmly into place. Of course you need to take everything out of the boot/trunk to see it, so it can easily build up over time.

Don't say that...

Hidden... standing pool(s) of water... could be common situation... undetected, yet theeeere.

(sometimes I really loath the info/reality packed into some of these threads)
