C4 won't come out of reverse
Just what the title says... reverse was sort of touchy before, sometimes it wouldn't go in, sometimes it would, but most of the time it was pretty rough. I have heard there is no synchro for reverse - is that true?
So my dad and I tried to pull the shifter down but it won't budge. We tried cold, warm, rolling forward, backward, clutching in and out, nothing. It's stuck in there real good.
Any experience with this kind of issue? Do I need to rebuild this box?
What's involved in taking out the tranny on a C4? I don't think I'm going to like the answer.... TIA.

The jam might be inside or outside of the box .
Remove the shift linkage where it goes into the box and then see how the shifter feels .
Then try to push / pull / twist the rod that goes into the box .
There is no syncro on a reverse gear . All the parts of the gearbox should be not moving when you put the shifter into reverse , so there is no need to get anything to speed up or down .

Drop details: I really like Garrett's slide shows.
Also, its copy in the DIY section.
Pretty righteous presentation.
