How good is 964 Air Conditioning?

Drifting
I live in St Louis, so our summers are similar. I have a 1991 C2 and it is still R12. I have to charge the system every two years. I had a dealer do it in 2005 at a cost of $180 in Hersey. My system was down 25 oz. of Freon. So they leak over time as a dye test did not reveal any significant leak points (though they probably did not check the evaporator box.) Fortunately I picked up 15# of R12 for a good price from a co-worker when he moved on from the last of his R12 vehicles.
The AC isn't the best, but really is a necessity here in the Midwest.

964 A/C
I have never found the air-conditioner in my 1990 964 to be up to the job. I live in Hawaii and when the humidity is through the roof, forget it, this is not the car to take. I've had it gone through and it's doing the best it can. What comes out of the vents is cool is but not going to give relief. What adds to the situation is that they have no wind wings. That was a mistake to have eliminated them. My other car, a Mazda MPV has that fantastic Japanese AC. If I have the Mazda AC cranked up to high and have the vent pointed at my hand inadvertently, my hand is so cold you could do cryosurgery and I wouldn't feel a thing. Of course I'm exaggerating but you get the point. I would not recommend the 964 if a comfortable commute is your objective.
