Default FS: 1995 993 Climate Control Module

Understand these were also used in the 964. Two years old, purchased from dealer and works great.

That one's not compatible with the 964 straight off. Dual A/C buttons for a start.....

While it's true that it's not compatible "straight off" for 1989 and 1990 cars, it is the correct and only replacement unit available for the 964. For the 1989 and 1990 cars you will need to install a simple jumper as described in Adrian's book, page 337-338. The 1991 and later cars already have the correct wiring.

To be clear, Adrian also mentions that the 1989 and 1990 RHD 964's delivered to UK, Australia and NZ may have trouble with the two-button unit because of an incorrect ground wire position. At least in his book, the solution is not known. In my LHD USA version 1990 C4 cab I actually just bridged the pins 1 and 19 on the circuit board in the unit.

I installed mine about a year ago. It works just fine. The bottom button has the same function as the single button on the original units in the 964. Push it and the aircon compressor is engaged. The top button engages full on everything. High speed fan, max cooling. Apparently to quickly cool the car after sitting.

+1 that this style of CCU works with 964s. I have had one in my cab for over 10 years.

Hi Guys,
I have an Australian 1990 RHD 964. The current CCU is # 993 659 048 00. I have been advised that # 993 659 047 00 (LHD) would work by Porsche and Loren at Systems Consulting. David's unit is newer( # 993 659 047 01) and both Porsche and Loren cannot tell me if this will work. Can those with working replacement 993 units tell me if they have a 993 659 047 01 unit installed ? Thanks.

Actually, the 01 can be used in place of the 00. If the 00 worked O.K., then
the 01 should also be O.K. The email received had a part number typo
which confused the issue. That's why no clear answer.

If you sell this to someone who is replacing their defective unit, would you pass my name along to them? I need to replace both the small buttons on mine and would be interested in buying their non-working unit or just the buttons. Maybe it would help offset their cost of buying your unit.

You can get just the buttons thru Porsche parts.

"You wanna play, you gotta pay...", I sure somebody said that...

Seriously, I replaced mine for something less than $10. I'm talking about just the plastic button itself, not the whole switch.

Try Sunset Motors.

My mechanic said the 00 or 01 units are completely interchangeable. Usually the last digits indicate Porsche made something “better’ internally. Doesn’t necessarily effect function or installation. FWIW: he said the 01 works identical to the 00 in either the 964 or 993.

For my unit P/N is 993-659-047-01

Altarchsa - I may have some ***** - stay tuned.
