Default Lower engine pulley now a bit wobbly- replace, but with what?

My lower pulley unit has developed play and is a bit wobbly- I guess the rubber center has seen better days.

Is there something other than OEM/stock to replace this unit?
Guess I should do the single alternator fan hub pulley (upper) at the same time. Does this affect a/c at all?
I've dispensed with heat but still need a/c.

Cheers.

The crank shaft needs the harmonic balancer .
You can get the old one fixed up .

Or maybe a tap or two would set it right .

Google TPC Superchargers. They have a right nice pully for you. It comes with a supercharger.

Mine has a wobble too, but at over £500 for an original replacement, I'm on the search for a second hand one.
If anyone can point me in the right direction, please do.
I've been told it also requires an engine drop to replace, so not good news.

See this thread HERE.

Also, do an ebay search for 964 pulley or porsche pulley. There were a couple on there for $250. It may be cheaper and better to have a shop rebuild it, as indycam's link points to in post #3.

I ended up keeping my harmonic balancer and making my own inner pulley out of billet aluminum.

Thanks- may get a rebuild and use CNC pulleys halves.

Changing the upper fan hub to the RS single style does not impact AC at all. It just makes the fan and alternator spin at the same speed using the same belt. If you go that route you end up with an empty pulley on the bottom double pulley.

Searched your DIY video- very nice. Did you look at your lower pulley while the fan was out?

If it wobbles , you can tap the pulley to set it right ?

My lower pulley wobbles a tad too, buts it's shaft related not the pulleys. My car had a double pulley system fit so that if a belt breaks it still works. The pulleys come from Smart Racing and were installed by Jerry Woods. Check the Smart Racing catalogue or give them a call.

I looked at it but didn't examine it really close. It seemed tight and stable with only casual inspection. I didn't rap on it with a hammer or anything.

Actually it is because with a single belt, the fan/alternator will slip on the belt in a racing environment. That is why the SRP has twin belts. Nice products, I use them all the time and highly recommend them.

Default removal tool

Don't waste money on the factory removal tool. A bolt with proper size and threads can be obtained from a bolt distributor on the east coast, Maryland I think it was.

Just use a smaller spacer to simulate the turned smaller diameter end if you don't have the equipment or a machinist to cut the end of the bolt down to clear the inner diameter. All it cost me was the shipping since the distributor sells mass quantities only. Salesman was very nice and gave me the bolt, shipped immediately. Some peope love to hear stories of desperation and ingenuity!

Thanks to all.

I have Smart camber plates on my car- nice products.

That Smart kit looks tight, but this is an area (among many) that I don't know well- does the double pulley system replace or work with the OEM harmonizer?

Regardless, with their kit do I still get a/c or does it assume a/c delete?
