Clutch Graunching Noise
Gentlemen,
I have a 91 C4 with a dry sounding graunching noise whenever the clutch is depressed. Whatever is causing the noise, sends a vibration that can be felt through the pedal. The gears seem to engage ok. Also when decelerating hard using the gears, I get a funny whine as I release the clutch going from 4th to 3rd. The clutch is fairly heavy, but has only done around 15000 miles in 8 years. Any ideas guys? I know a new clutch is the obvious answer but is there anything else it could be? Cheers, TD:burnout: |
Throw out bearing .

Thanks,
However what is a Throw Out bearing? Is it easy to replace? Cheers TD |
The throw out bearing is transfering the pedal movement over to the pressureplate.
It is as easy to change as the whole clutch assembly, ie you have to split the gearbox and the engine. |
"what is a Throw Out bearing?"
http://www.carcare.org/Manual_Transm..._bearing.shtml "Is it easy to replace?" No . You can live with it till it goes all to heck , or you can spend the money now . Spend the money now or later . |
Thanks Indycam, looks like I'll have to save up for that repair.
Cheers TD. |
