Alright guys, I need some clarification here from somebody who has done this install w/ these Powerflex bushings.

Here's the instruction diagram, notice how you reuse the inner center piece.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v5...psbbc00c3a.jpg
Here's the inner side of the bushing, notice the extra indention for the reused OEM sleeve.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v5...psf486ff74.jpg
Here's the OEM sleeve i'm suppose to reuse. Notice the area that has the rubber residue.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v5...ps4f378dd2.jpg
Here is the OEM sleeve fed up to the bushing half. Notice how the sleeve appears pretty oversized for the indention that is suppose to accommodate it.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v5...psfca850d6.jpg
Here's the comparison of the outer diameter of that 1st step on the sleeve on the sleeve (the one w/ rubber residue) versus the inner diameter of the indention.

I know these bushes are suppose to have a bit of a pressed fit, but this seems excessive. The step on the OEM sleeve almost looks like it isn't 1 piece w/ the whole sleeve, like the part w/ the rubber residue is actually an extra sleeve.. Is there something here i'm suppose to remove from the OEM sleeve to make it work w/ the bushing, or is it really suppose to be that much of a forced fit?

Vandit ,

they are a tight fit I put mine in on the bench vice mine didnt sit totally home as you can see from the picture I ended up putting a rubber "o" ring on to tidy it up and keep the crap out but probably not required

Looking a ghhally's pics, his seem to fit pretty darn flush, as show on the Powerflex diagram.

Guys, there's still a collar on there that you need to take off.

PChar 02-25-2013 05:42 PM

Yeah, agree with ghhally, I also did the powerfles a month ago, and you need to remove the last collar. Just use a screwdriver or a chisel. It's not hard at all. But it should fit flush and not forced in and bulging out as GazC2 did. Mine went in easy and flush, remember to use some bushing grease inside the copper sleeve.

Good luck

Oh okay, just as I suspected. Thanks for the clarification guys!

I'll heat it a bit w/ the torch to make removal go a bit smoother, hopefully.

ghhally 02-25-2013 05:48 PM

Ramon, screwdriver will do. They're not so tight.

GazC2 02-25-2013 06:18 PM

mmm, looks like I have a bit of remedial work to do ! fortunately its up on stands and in bits anyway

Nice work y'all. For those of you whose springplates were dead or nearly so, was there any indication from the driver's seat that something was amiss? TIA!

I did the powerflex kit today and got it seated and flush without any issues. The only thing I really don't get is the slot in the metal sleeve that mounts towards the chassie. I thought that the two slots would lock into the opposite castings in the chassie mount. But when I just tried to get the feel for it with a loose sleeve I really can't feel that it locks/snugg fit into these castings. What is the purpose of the slots and the castings in the sleeve/mount?

I managed to replace the spring plates for a set of ERPs, but as said it was thight. I actually undid the gearbox at the front so I could push it sideways 15-20 mm and that gave me some more room.

Thomas

Just a quick one on this as I've just done this to my front suspension wishbones. The studs ie the ones that secure to the lower control ball joint(caster adjusters) on the wishbones appear to be the wrong way around?

Colin,
is this bushing-kit still availalbe from you/ninemeister?

What are your general thoughts guys:

My blue car is a pure fun-racer. No clima, no radio, headers, open cone filter... so no luxury left in the car anymore.
Suspension is Euro-RS Spring with Bilstein cup dampers... RS sways.. I will update my bushings over the winter.

Shout i go to monoball all around or should i go with harder rubber bushings all around or rubber in the rear, monoball in the front?
I`ll also switch to RS-monoball top-mounts all around and i want it to be done right :-)

What are your thaughts for my car?

I have a brand new set of these bushes, purchased direct from Ninemeister, never got round to using them, US$240 shipped worldwide, if anyone is interested.
Thanks
