Default Parade anyone?

I know it's a bit early, but is anyone planning on the Charlotte Parade?

I will be there with my America Roadster... Do you have the dates yet? Gina and I are planning on using our time-share which is a 3 bedroom condo... We will probably have a bunch from the Chesapeake Region staying with us...

---Porsche Parade 2008 will be June 29th - July 3rd (Sun-Thurs). People will probably start showing up on the 27th or before. Also we will have a 2 Day DE at Lowe's Motor Speedway directly afterwards on July 4th-5th. Everything is shaping up nicely. I think we will sell out the first day.---

This is pulled from a reply from the parade chair to me. His user ID is Harvey Yancey and he's on the 993 boards.

Unfortunately, I couldn't get the week off so I woun't be going. My wife and I usually hit the parade every two or three years.

since there seem to be some vets around, what's typical registration run, and any other costs not including hotel?

Also, not much here yet, but you can register to receive updates: Charlotte Porsche Parade Site

The January Panorama should have all the details and registration info. Basic registration is $175, I believe. From there, you have to choose the banquet/meal package. The main hotel is in downtown Charlotte. It's great staying at the HQ hotel because PCA takes it over. Everywhere you go is Porches and Porsche people. The Concours will be walking distance from hotel. Across the street is the convention center where the banquets will be held and I believe that there will be a 60 year of Porsche museum. My family loves going to Parade. Lots of kids attend. I'm looking forward to doing the tours and the two days of DE at Lowes Motor Speedway the two days after Parade.

Thanks Manny. I'm looking forward to it too. This will be my first ever parade. Are those prices per car or per person?

Registration is per car. You pay for meals per person. I think you get two name tags and extras are pretty cheap. For example, I have to pay extra for my kids name badges, but not for including my kids in registration. I won't lie, registration is fairly involved. They've spent a lot of money making it user friendly when you register online, but because there is so much going on at Parade, there's alot to choose from when registering. I used to wonder how anyone could handle a week of Porsche stuff, but the time flies by. While there's alot of competitive events, parade is really a social event. I used to run the rally, but never did well, so I found another way to enjoy the rally-I volunteer to work at a checkpoint. Turns out that is a blast. Get to meet new people and you get a nifty shirt for volunteering.

Feel free to email me if you've got any questions once registration gets closer. If they have a hard copy that can be downloaded, I'd do that so you can get an idea what you want to do/choose when the online registration opens. Remember to register on the day it opens. If the Parade sells out, they take the people that register on that day and do a lottery.

We attended the 2007 event and took first in concours and second in rally with my wife's 03 Boxster S. I would like to take a crack at 2008 with my 964, but I cant see driving all the way from LA. I have concidered renting a enclosed trailer, There were a lot of people who drove to San Diego and then shipped their cars home. Not sure if I can get that much time off from work to travel there and back on top of the event. The Parade was so much fun its very tempting. I know we will do Colorado in 2009.

Thanks for the responses. We're getting some things lined up, which also includes working AC (r134 conversion).

I plan to be there, although most likely in the Cayman S rather than the 964. In fact, I just blocked out the vacation time with my boss.

SD was my first ever Parade, and my family and I had a fantastic time. It will be a 2 day drive to get to Charlotte, but I expect that it will be well worth the effort.

Yeah,

Think I'm gonna make it down to NC for this one! Close enough to drive and not trailer...!

Hey Bull, you putting together a tour for this too? Oh, and I promise I'll bring the correct car for this drive!
