Don't know if it would fall under 'bang for the buck' but I have shorter 3,4,5 gears with a top speed of about 148 instead of the useless 160.
The pull makes up for SOME of my deficiency on the track (DE's)!

Hmm, my calculation says 300 lb is more like 23 HP. Gettiing it out of unsprung or rotating weight counts for more, but 3200 lb and 247 HP is 13 lb/HP.

You will definately feel a 300 lb weight loss. Just carry a 300 lb human around, and then see how it feels when you drive with out the passenger...

Great input kgorman,

Will defintely search your posts to gain a little insight into how to pimp my ride, err, improve the lofty C4.

I see you have the venerable (or loathed, depending) '89 C4. That means you and I are in a unique niche of C4 owner who singularly know the quirks of these earliest of 964 911s (single mass flywheel, anyone?).

Speaking of which...I read a post somewhere else in this thread about clutch upgrades but everything I have seen has been explicitly NOT for the '89 C4s. Anything we can do to drop weight in the clutch/tranny department?

Oh, that's a good thing! Lighter and more reliable than the 90-91 DMF with none of the stalling issues of the LWF. Similar to the Andial semi lightweight option.

I actually had the '89 flywheel installed on my C4 since a LWF used to be a prepared mod and would have progressed my car up a class.

JB- So an '89 flywheel will work on a '90 as well I assume.
If it didn't bump you up a class would you have gone with the Andial?

Oh...What I've heard is that the '89 C4 flywheel weighs a s**tload comparatively although, admittedly, it has avoided a lot of the well-chronicled failures of the later DMFs.

True statement?

+1 on work on the driver.

Drive your car at a year's worth of DE's first. When you can drive the car around the track at it's limit as is (instructor's opinion, not yours ), then start to work on upgrades in an incremental fashion.

All good upgrade suggestions though.

Best Regards,

David, I would have used the Factory RS flywheel which is what I put in my C2. The stalling problems are less of an issue with track cars.

Ideally thats what I would like but while I don't do very much street driving, I do get caught in hot 'lanta's world famous
stop 'n stop traffic from time to time, so as compromise was wondering about '89 or Andial.

Greg- how's your RS been in Dallas heat/traffic?
