Need some advice on wheels and rear wing..
Still a relative newbie here, I need some advice on changing my rims and adding a rear wing to my 93 964 C4.. I've included some pics below ...
I would like to change to black rims, and ive heard the originals can be painted. Does this make sense or should I just get a new set, and if so, can anyone suggest where i might get ones that fit properly.
I also want a RSA wing, and can find those online, but i seem to be having more trouble locating a proper decklid to mount it on....any suggestions?
My mechanic is good but body work/painting is very expensive and i know he'll charge me a ton for parts, so i'd just as soon get those myself...
Any and all advice is welcome....many of you seem quite expert and i appreciate any input..feel free to critique the car, i'd like to give it an eventual overhaul

A real RSA wing can be found in the proper color but patience is the key. It could run anywhere from $350 for just the wing to over $1k which may include the decklid. The RSA wing will add weight compared to your current pop up spoiler. Im considering a complete RSA wing/decklid so I can swap them as my mood changes. The fiberglass option is lighter and will bolt right into your lid as ilko stated.
As for your rims you can paint them, its not rocket science and preparation is the key. Do a search of the forums for all the details. The key is with your black car do you want to go flat, semi or glossy black or maybe a metallic gray as a contrast. Lots of options and thousand of pictures here on Rennlist for you to look at.
BTW - I would suggest getting clear corner lenses. Those amber turn signals look strange on a black car in my opinion. Also, its hard to tell from the picture but it looks as though you have the usual 964 front frown. The car looks so much better when thats fixed and only takes about an hour or two. Turn that frown upside down

If you paint your wheels, just paint the spokes and leave the rims silver. This looks better IMO because it provides definition between the wheels and the car.
Lovely car and it's great to see the rest of the family are taking a keen interest in P cars aswell.

Thanks for the advice guys, I'll definetely change those lenses too
You know, Its crazy that my Porsche 'specialist' said the frown (which annoys the heck out of me) would not be fixable..he suggested replacing the entire front spoiler!
The kids do love the porsche, they fir perfectly into the rear seats and love the rumble of the engine. "Go FASTER, Daddy!!!".... ah, the joys of fatherhood

Great shot!
ak-
I smiled when I saw your pit crew.
Neighborhood, lawns, next door flower garden, someone to do the wheels... Nice.
(And a soon to be wing-bedecked & re-wheeled, Black 964.)
You're a lucky man, ak.
Glad to meet you!

Oh, and here's my red '93 C2 sporting a glass wing -- RSA shaped. (That top photo's a bit distorted by fisheye effect.)
It came with the car, painted all red, is of unknown source, is quite light, and I've also got the original wing workings (in a box). The original all red tail looked a bit too 'boy racer', so I shot that black 'rubber' perimeter you see using bedliner spray over textured paint. (From Home Depot! )
However, I've found that there's no easy way of going back to the stock deployable wing because, around its perimeter, the glass wing has worn into the original paint on the back hood. So, short of revealing that marring, there's no going back to the stock wing w/o a hood respray.
(Which is perfectly fine with me 'cuz I love the look of my wing!)

I installed an MA Shaw RSA style wing on my C2. You can use your original deck lid once you remove the pop-up wing assembly. The MAS wing fits down into the recess where the pop-up wing rested so there should not be any visible marking when and if you remove it. Also when I did the install I fabricated some rubber "gaskets" to sit between the mounting services of the new wing and the base of the decklid.

John-
If you have one handy, would you post a picture of your car (taken from the rear quarter) to show off how that overall tail fitment looks?
From your avatar I'm thinking I'm going to like it -- a lot.
Thanks!

Those are 8 x 9-1/2 x 17's and they're approximately $3,000 new. Secondhand, you might be able to find a set between $1,000 $2,000. Everyone wants 18's, now, so all the 17-inch wheel pricess seem to be dropping big time.
