Default Need help in deciphering electric diagram

Hi all,
I am trying to trace my brake light problem (does not come on when depressing the brake pedal or turning on the emergency flasher) using the electric diagram. I have traced the live wire of the brake lights to a junction on the electrical diagram (sheet #1, grid N/O-7). The symbol of this junction is a #4 inside a square box. Does anyone knows what that symbol means. Is it a reference to another map/location?. Thanks again for all your help. Andy

I don't have my diagrams handy but if memory serves correctly a numbered little box (without letters) is just a splice to the other wires that also join that box. I spilled beer all over my laptop with the diagrams and now I'm afraid to power it up

Chance,
when you turn on the warning flasher, does your brake lights flashes as well?, in addition to the side marker lights or the turn signal lights?. If your brake lights does not come/flash on when the warning flasher is activated, then I may have to change my stop light switch. Thanks. Andy

Oh man it's been way too long for me to remember but *something* in the back should be flashing with hazard/warning lights on I'd think. Someone else can chime in with more helpful info or you can just do a search for it - tons of threads on this stuff - symptoms and solutions.

search for electric bulb short, maybe throw in hazard light

the answer is yes, You need to look for the matching 4.

I don't think the brake lights are activated with the hazard switch.
You should also be able to test the brake switch by seeing if it deactivates the cruise control.

Thanks Colin. In the e-diagram, the Br/Rd wire from the hazard switch ends in the #4 junction box with the Br/Rd wires from all the brake lights, that is why I thought it may have a function in activating the brake lights when the hazard switch is turned on. I was wrong. I am going to change out the stop light switch as it doesn't cost very much for the part.
