Opinions on fire extinguisher mount......
I was going to order a mount, and was wondering, which one is best?
I know I want the Brey Krause.....I am wondering between power or non-power?
Please give me your opinions!!!
I love this place

Get this instead of the BK, http://stableenergies.com/prodinfo.asp?number=FEM3
This one moves with the seat and looks a bit neater, IMHO.

Now I find this out. I have just bought and installed the Brey Krause unit.
Go for the one that moves with the seat unless your car is used extensively for track work.

I am somewhat confused between 'power and non-power'.
Usually that is in reference to a hard install/plumbed fire supression system (and the bottle would be mounted under the bonnet or in the vehicle, usually with the supplied mounting hardware from the system manufacturer)
(FWIW, I prefer the manual/non-power version...pull the cable and it SHOULD work.....not a good time to find out you didn't test/replace the trigger battery)
As for a conventional 5# fire extinguisher bottle, if it is for DE/track use, the general recommendation would be to make sure it is mounted in such a way/location that you can reach it while still strapped in your seat. Again, being strapped into the seat, unable to release the harness and NOT be able to reach it....not a good day.

Lewis: Power vs. non-power refers to the seat type. A non-power will not fit a seat that has any power functions (eg, manual forward/back but power up/down).
I didn't like the BK mount. Nice piece but not in reach while belted in and a pain for any passenger.

I agree the stable energies mount is superior to the Brey Kraus unit. The BK unit is made of SS and you are paying for material vs design. Bob makes a great product and I had both and the SE unit works better IMO.

Stephen: I wouldn't use any that mounted to the passenger seat if my wife complained and I only tried the BK. As I said I didn't like it for the track either and, since I have a dedicated track car, I installed a full fire supression system - not exactly an option on a street car. I can't help with an option for a street car that I would use ...
