Rebuild Complete, first pix finally!

I finished my rebuild about two weeks ago (thanks in part to a lot of great information here and on Pelican). So now just in time for winter I am enjoying my 964 :jumper: (it was 60 degrees here yesterday so a top down ride was in order)

I bought her about a year ago with a known bad engine (turned out to be a broken crankshaft that had been over-machined) and started the rebuild process last January. Picked up a used crank in Germany (have family there) and had Competition Imports do all of the machining, checking, etc. I was truly amazed when she started and was equally impressed with the first drive (after I sorted out a vacuum leak at the cyl 6 intake clamp). I love driving this car! My only other drive time in a Porsche was a 911/930 turbo back in 1987 as an 18 year old in Germany (that memory will stay with me forever).

The car still needs work (finish the interior, new weatherstripping, side rubber trim, etc) but for now I am happy to have her on the road.

I will be changing the oil for the first time this weekend, I am going with M1 5W-40 after reading much debate on this topic. So here are the mandatory pics.........and thanks again to this wonderful site.

That's awesome that you have her up and running. Great job!

As a side note I see your seats have contrasting piping. Is it dark brown or black?

buck_31 11-24-2007 11:11 AM

Thanks, the piping is black, not sure if they were original or redone at some point. Unfortunately I didn't get much in the way of history/documentation with the car.

I had similar seats in my C4. In my case, the piping was a Factory option and specified on the original window sticker.

Nice work, Mark!

That's pretty nice looking. I may have to imitate that when I rework my seats!
