Can a RMS leak wait?
 

Apparently my 964 has a small leak from the RMS, my mechanic told me to wait till the car needs a new clutch to fix it.
I searched the forums for RMS and found a lot of 996 posts, less for 993s and 964s but I am still confused about this issue

Should I have this leak repaired ASAP? or it can wait for the new clutch (the car has 95.000 miles but no signs of clutch fatigue yet)

If the leak oils your clutch, you will need a clutch pretty soon. If the oil spot on the garage floor is bigger than an inch (2 cm), it is a bad leak and should be fixed just to keep the oil off the streets. I am not aware of any sudden failure mode for the RMS, so there is no urgent need to replace it.

I agree with the size of the spot being your guide. Many TMS leaks never leave any spot for quite a while, just showing signs of oil on the cases. If you let it go beyond a small spot on the garage floor, you will oil the clutch and accelerate the need for a new one as pointed out.

Thank you for your advice!!! I will have to wait till the other leaks are solved (valve cover gaskets and other small stuff is being changed right now) to see what the size of the RMS leak is

Henry, an oil pressure sender o-ring leak will often appear like a rear main seal leak because the oil runs down the front side of the engine, and is a lot more common than the crank seal going. Make sure that's not your problem, first!! ;)
