Default Another Heater Problem Thread.

Problem: Interior fans only blow when the temperature **** is in the Blue dot position. The fans shut off about 2 seconds after the **** is moved from the Blue dot.

Diagnosis:
Fuse 39 was blown.
Based on posts of the people on this forum with the same problem I decided that I needed to replace the rear blower.

Attempt to Fix:
I checked the resister and made sure it was the part # ending in 02. I purchased an new blower motor from:
http://getcoolparts.com/item.wws?mfr...illid=9&image=

Warning: this will save you a lot of money over replacing the entire unit, but getting the plastic fan off of the motor shaft was a real pain and I resorted to using an milling machine.

http://www.pelicanparts.com/techarti...ower_motor.htm
and Adrian’s book both have a nice write up about how to get the blower out of the car but after it is out you are on your own replacing the actual motor.

After replacing the motor cleaning everything up I put it back in the car and replaced the 30 A fuse. I still have the same problem that I had before I started in that the interior fans shut off if the **** is placed in any position other than cold. I thought for sure that replacing the motor with a new one would fix the problem. Is there anything else I can try? My mechanic wants me to replace the entire heating unit$$$$$$$.

Any Suggestions are much appreciated, and Adrian’s book is an incredible resource.

Thank you in advance,
Ryan Dunn

Very interested in this issue...

I recently had the rear blower removed from my car and now am experiencing this same issue, the front fan only blows with the temp dial set to cool. Fuses all seem fine...

Anyone with clues?

Blue C2...

Found my answer here: http://rennlight.com/rstube/

Don't know whether this applies to your problem, but that rear fan sounds like a good place to start.

HD thank you for the link, and I may go that route, but where i just replaced the motor I would like to figure out what is wrong with it. Where you took your motor out and I just replaced mine, I guess it is safe to say that a bad motor is not the only cause of this problem.

bump, for more ideas.

Thanks

After reading this post: https://rennlist.com/forums/964-forum/391210-anyone-have-this-problem-or-posit-the-solution.html
I am wondering if this could be the cause of the problem, anyone know how to tell for sure. I have no idea where the little fan is to spin around.

Thanks,
Ryan

You should find this DIY thread useful for that fan

I had excatly the same problem/symptoms and was getting ready to replace the CCU. However, my mech. insisted on atleast trying to clean up everthing at the back of the CCU, which worked a treat; now all works as it should. We couldn't pin point exactly what the issue was, but dismantling and reconnecting all the wiring at the back fixed it.
