DIY Belt Replacement for 964

Does anyone have a good website or tutorial Do-It-Yourself on the following belt replacement?

Fan Belt
Alternator Belt
A/C Belt

Is this essentially the same proceedure as the 993 set-up, with exception of the Distributor belt?

Any ideas on what it may cost for a Porsche shop to do the Distributor belt at $90.00 per hour?

In the tool kit that came with the car from the factory ,
hopefully , you will find two tools for changing the fan / alt belts .

You say smartass , I say snark .
Snark is a good thing imho .

The car's handbook describes the replacement/adjustment very well. Put a cloth below the pulleys to catch any shims or bolts that you might drop accidentally while doing this job.

Thanks Guys.

Baby steps, baby steps. Soon you will be doing valve adjustments on your own. Remember that you must use all the spacers/shims, don't leave any out.

it was just there for the picking, but being in the festive holiday mood, I had to resist.

JTurbo- hope the belt change goes well. I should do that one day.

Thanks again,

I went to my local Porsche dealership today, left work early "for thanksgiving holiday" and picked up two belts for my 1993 RS America. The v-belts that they gave me for the alternator belt and fan belt was one 9.5 x 776 and one 9.5 x 760. Are these the correct belts? Which one is the fan belt and which one is the alternator belt?

:)

BTW - i am not seeing anything in the owner's manual on the v-belt replacement / adjustment?

This is very interesting. The PET diagram shows that either the two belts are the same (9.5 x 776) or the fan belt is 9.5 x 776 and the alternator belt is 9.5 x 760 (as you have been supplied with). I was supplied with two 776 belts when I did mine so I guess that Porsche decided later to fit a smaller belt for the alternator. Hopefully someone can confirm this?

Use this link to change your belts if you can't find it in the manual (I haven't got access to mine today to let you know the page):

Does anyone have the torque specs on each hardware nut and bolt that is removed.

Also, are the haynes manuals useful for the 964? Anyone have any leads to a 964 Porsche factory repair manual on CD? I got a 944 turbo factory repair manual on CD for $50 a couple of years back.

Give me a sec here... I got the workshop manuals, let me look.
