Default RS Door Panels: worth the effort?

As you may know I am creating a track focused/street car and could use the stock door panels from the "track car" in my other 964- if I did so, I would like to replace with RS panels but assuming I keep the speakers, is there really much weight to be saved here vs. the loss of convenience (storage etc.)?

TIA

roll cage \ door bars will probably interfere with the standard door cards...

But if no cage (yet) do you actually save much weight changing to RS panels?
Can you still have a stereo with them?

They do not save that much weight probably about 14 lbs for the pair. If you install the stereo speakers they sound just like stock. I love mine !

I just did mine last weekend and love them. The original ones were okay, however were having fit/warping issues. They add a little more space between the seats and doors.

In addition to losing extra storage and a nifty 20 oz. pop holder/accesory bin, there's no place to rest your left arm. I missed it on long drives. Plus your passenger has absolutely nothing to hang on to during spirited drives.

Unless, you're going with a cage, I'm not sure they're worth it. The weight savings, as mentioned, is not entirely dramatic.

I love my RS panels and rest my left arm on the rigid door handle. Next step will be to replace them with carbon fiber.

I am 6' 3" and the extra space in the cabin is welcome. I don't miss the bins much either. My car is a hobby weekend car and doesn't get used on long trips where you would be needing the bins and cup holders.

if you buy them from appbiz.com you can order the "RS panel Plus" with a small pocket. I like them a lot and the pocket is very useful for a wallet, phone etc. The stock doorpanel weighs 5 kg inlc speaker and the RS panel without speaker is 2 kg. You clearly feel the difference when you open/close the door.

Thanks for the pic. They come in blk as well I assume.

Is there depth for speakers? You just cut them out as necessary I guess.

they are black, it's just the flash light. Yes they're pre-cut if you have/want power windows or manual, and speakers.

On Appbiz's site I did not see the pocket you have- did you add that yourself?

No, they don't have it on their website (don't ask me why). Call or e-mail Bob at appbiz, he knows about this!
