Default Rear Spoiler won't activate...

Hi Folks,
Rear spoiler just stopped rising at speed. Trips the dash warning light. Something I should attempt to fix or wait until it goes to my mechanic?

Thanks, Dennis

Does it work manually?

Check the function of the 2 limit switches located inside the plastic cover under the engine lid. On the underside of the engine lid on the left side there is a black plastic cover. This is held in place by 2 phillips head screws on the right side of the cover and there are simply tabs on the left side. Remove this cover and you'll see the mechanism, gears, limit switches, etc. Be sure to lay down a towel across the engine because guaranteed you'll drop those screws down into the engine bay.

One other possible cause, is your speedometer working? The spoiler needs the vehicle speed sensor to be working for it to raise and lower automatically. Can you manually raise it with the center console switch?

I had the same issue and found that the gear mech had fell off. As I have no plastic cover (that's the first time I've seen a cover in mojorizing's pic) it had fallen into the engine bay!

Best check that it's in place. I was lucky that I got away with it not causing some real damage!

Default Update...

So first I tried to manually raise the spoiler and it did not go but I could hear the mechanism working. Laid down a towel in the engine bay (great advise), removed the left plastic shroud and there they were. Three loose bolts. A quick tighten and all is well again. Thanks for all the great advice!

if the spoiler can be activated manually, check the sensors on the wheels too. Make sure the contacts are clean, and fully engaged.

Thanks for the tip. It was my first mechanical project (if you call it that) and i'm glad the towel placement was emphasized !!
