Did you ever notice a natural tendency when you are between 50-100K not to drive the car too much for fear of racking up miles and crossing that great divide of 100K? Its actually quite liberating once you cross 100K. From that point on, we just drive and drive and drive and never worry about the miles again. 140K-ish here...

I now have almost 136,000 wonderful miles on my '91 C2 cab. I bought it seven years ago with ~97,000 miles, so I've done around 5,000 miles per year. From our home base in Washington, DC, it's been to Cape Cod, East Hampton, NY, Cape May, NJ, Chincoteague Island and the Eastern Shore of Maryland many times, along with more mundane duties around town.
I had a leak-down and compression test done at it's last major service and it was still within 5% of original specs.

I think you're on to something there. I'm currently looking for a 964 and considered one with 27k mi. but if I had bought it I would have been forced to baby it. Instead I think I'm like you, with higher miles comes more freedom cause the low mileage ship has already sailed.
