Urgent Help !!!

My wish to night was to do a quick replacement of the valve cover gasket seal!
-An easy task, but how much oil is suppose to drain out....It feel that it won’t stop. I prepared with some rags...but a least 2 litres came out in 3 seconds. I had to put the cover on with one nut to secure it...and here I am!!
-Any advice. Please….only 2 hour before bedtime here!!
:crying:

If you jack up the rear end high enough you won't see much oil coming out. Hope this helps.

Try jacking up one side at a time; the side you are working on, of course.

I have the whole car horizontal, high up on jack stands. Does that mean that I am getting an “free of charge” oil change ??

Mine was once done with a level lift and without changing the oil. I can't say how much dripped out, but there were at least five pans under the car catching all of the oil drips while the guy worked!

Okay......I once saw a mechanic change this gasket on my 993, and as I recall, the car was up in the air, and no dripping to speak off..! That’s the reason I decided to do this on my 964....an easy task in 1-2 hours....Now I have to spend that time just to wipe the garage floor...

Cat litter will do the trick ;)

If you have a local Napa auto parts they make a really good oil spill "kitty litter" type mix. It's much lighter than kitty litter and more absorbent. I highly recommend it.

Torque power

Thanks gays....I fixed it with some diapers ( right spelt? ), and a new bought oil collector. Seams that at least 4 litres is coming out of a cold engine this way.

Now for the last question.....with how much torque do i set the 11 nuts. I looked in Adrians book, but didn’t find anything. Have to do it in a cross pattern....but how hard....Anyone...Please

Valve Cover Torque value
Tightening torque for valve cover nuts is 9.7Nm (7 ftlb).
From Porsche Workshop manual.
tighten in a cross-ways pattern

Hur mkt delar av motor´n har du behövt plocka bort för att komma åt ventilkåporna.
