What would I expect to pay for heads and cam shafts?
 

Hi all,

Just putting out some feelers... what would I expect to pay for 6 used heads for a 964 and 2 cam shaft housings with the cam shafts in tact?

I would say around £200-250 each for the heads (used). The cams are more difficult - I would hazard a guess at the same sort of price for each of them - but I would think these are volatile dependent on supply/demand. I can't remember what I paid for my very long race cams now, even as a very rough comparison...sorry - someone else may know.

New 964 cams are $1000 each. Heads are more.

Not that I need them....but if I did I'd probably pay $2K for the lot if I did, and they checked out OK.

Heads are generally about $200each for a good used core head. Expect to replace the valves, guides, seals, spring, and retainers.

I wouldn't look too hard for used camshafts. Most of the ones I've seen have had pitting on the nose of the cam. You can get reproduction camshafts from a good camshaft manufacturer for under $800. These will be chill cast core camshafts, not welded and reground units.
