New 9m64RS M003 widebody in construction
This latest project (no 3 from the 9mRS project line) could be summarised as a re-shell of an accident damaged 964RS lightweight, but this would only be half of the story.
After buying the centre front-damaged midnight blue LHD 964RS we thought that it would be a shame to break it for parts and lose its spirit forever, so the obvious solution was to re-shell it into a 9m64RS M003. Now, because we never do things by half, we then thought how cool it would be to build a widebody version instead - mostly inspired by the one-of-two UK registered RHD 964RS 3.8 lightweights (the red one) that just happened to be in our shop for the last 4 months. Leading on from here we also figured that it would take us too long to build a widebody shell and cost too much to buy all the body parts; likewise given the investment in the project it did not make sense to start with a damaged car. The conclusion we came to is that we had to search out a nice clean 964 turbo as a starting point, so after scouring the country for either a right or left hooker, we eventually sourced a beautiful low mileage LHD 3.3 turbo which has gracefully agreed to give up it's body for a greater good.....
I'll post pictures soon of the remains of the RS and the donor silver on black turbo, no doubt turbo fans will throw up their hands in horror but to be honest, we don't care. After driving the genuine 3.8RS and then driving the turbo back from south Wales, all I can say is that all the other 965 3.3's in the country better be looking over their shoulders.
The only decision to be made is over the colour. The original car was Midnight as mentioned, but that is not bright enough for us. Maritime Blue is the obvious choice and is in the spirit of the original, but we have the serious hots for Signal Green..... your thoughts please!

Colin,
It sounds like a very exciting project! I hope you post alot of pictures throughout the build process.
I dont believe there is any more iconic colour for a porsche 911 than guards red.

I've always (I think along with many other people) consider green to be an unlucky colour.
I've always had a thing for Maritime Blue and that's where my vote would go. Either that, or for something rare, maybe Coral Red would look stunning! I've seen photo's of a 3.6 Turbo on here in that colour for a reference.
Many people who've seen my 964 think the colour's very nice! It's also a one off..but I could give you the mix!

Oh, the horror of deatroying a turbo in favor of an N/A power plant...oh wait...I'd do that!
I love all of the "gumball colors", however, I think the signal green would be tough for me to take on the street and, while interesting, I'd grow tired of it. Now, the Maritime Blue, that is the golden "gumball" color and you never tire of it.
